Sergeant Major Terry L. Anderson was appointed as the second United States Army Finance & Comptroller Sergeant Major in 2023. Anderson serves as the Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Military Deputy for Army Financial Management & Comptroller.
 
Anderson is a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He entered the Army in July 1999 from Columbia, S.C. as a Finance Specialist. He attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Jackson, S.C.
 
Anderson’s assignments include Garrison Command Sergeant Major, U. S. Army Garrison Picatinny Arsenal, Picatinny, N.J.; Senior Financial Management Advisor, 4th Financial Management Support Unit, Fort Bliss, Texas; First Sergeant, 106th Financial Management Support Unit, Baumholder, Germany; Assistant Inspector General, XVIII Airborne Corps, Fort Liberty, N.C.; Detachment Sergeant, C Detachment, 106th Financial Management Support Unit, Vicenza, Italy; Small Group Leader, Soldier Support Institute, Noncommissioned Officer Academy, Fort Jackson, S.C.; Pay Manager, A Detachment, 126th Financial Management Company, Fort Liberty, N.C.; Pay Analyst, B Detachment, 106th Finance Battalion, Hohenfels, Germany; Pay Technician, A Company, 101st Soldier Support Battalion, Fort Campbell, Ky.
 
Anderson’s deployments include Kosovo in support of Operation Joint Guardian KFOR 4B; Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08; Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom 12-13 and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
 
Anderson’s military and civilian education encompasses all levels of professional military education to include graduating the U. S. Army Sergeants Major Academy (Class 68), Battalion Pre-Command Course/Command Sergeants Major Course, Battalion Command Sergeants Major Development Program, Garrison Pre-Command Course, Financial Management Pre-Command Course, Inspector General Course, Executive Comptroller Course, Battle Staff, Master Resilience Training, Equal Opportunity Leaders Course, Instructor Course, Small Group Instructor Training, Antiterrorism Officer Basic Course, Unit Movement Officer Deployment Planning Course, Contracting Officer Representative Course, Air Assault School and Airborne School. Anderson has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from the University of Arizona Global Campus.
