Business Process Improvement

Business Process Improvement in the Financial Management Community

Business Process Improvement (BPI) is the Army’s approach to identify processes to improve accuracy, effectiveness, and efficiency. BPI utilizes the most appropriate process and performance improvement methodologies for the process issue. The Army’s BPI program includes multiple methodologies, such as Business Process Reengineering (BPR), Continuous Process Improvement (CPI), and Lean Six Sigma (LSS).

The Army’s Financial Management (FM) community plays an active role in BPI. We look within our own community to improve our internal processes. Financial management also supports all other Army domains. For example, the financial management community supports improvement efforts by validating cost savings or avoidance. The FM community has been involved in BPI since its inception in the Army.
